Memorandum of Cooperation with China's National Research Institute for AI

On Tuesday September 26th, the General Director of Athena Research Center, Professor Yiannis Emiris and the General Director of the Institute of Scientific & Technical Information (ISTIC), Beijing, which is under the Ministry of Research and Technology of China, Professor ZHAO Zhiyun, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to promote Research in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Founded in October 1956, ISTIC is a national scientific and technological information research institute. Within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation, ISTIC can facilitate synergies between Chinese and Greek research institutions in areas of common interest, such as, among others: Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence in governance and transparency, as well as ethics in the use of Artificial Intelligence.
Finally, the main aim of the Memorandum is to facilitate international exchange of scientists in the field of Artificial Intelligence and their participation in scientific events such as: conferences, forums, seminars, etc.
During the visit of the ISTIC representatives, presentations of the two institutions took place, as well as meetings among the Directors of the Institutes and scientific collaborators of Athena.
Professor Yiannis Emiris, General Director of Athena Research Center said: “International cooperations are a priority for Athena Research Center. The Memorandum of Cooperation with ISTIC aims to expand the horizons of Athena Research Center and promote pioneering synergies in the AI Sector”.
