As is customary, ATHENA RC's exhibits drew considerable attention from visitors, affording them the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the Center's scientific collaborators and delve into their work. This year's event featured a range of speeches and workshops held in the Pavilion's Event Space, covering diverse topics spanning from Generative AI to reducing carbon footprints, as well as delving into Technology Transfer and entrepreneurial endeavors.

Visitors to the 87th TIF, including the general public, educators, institutional partners, and corporate executives, were treated to an entertaining and interactive exploration of ATHENA's initiatives and programs. Over 1,000 visitors engaged in the PSLIFESTYLE test, allowing them to calculate their carbon footprint and discover ways to reduce it. One particularly noteworthy innovation was FRESQO, a product facilitating the automatic detection of fish freshness, with potential applications extending to other marketable, non-fish products. Hundreds of attendees explored Mythotopia, a tourist guide for Northern Greece, and encountered the innovative APTOS system featuring smart replicas of exhibits, such as the 3D-printed temple of Achiropoiitos of Thessaloniki, accompanied by audio presentations for the visually impaired.

Furthermore, the audience was introduced to the AI4EDU system, which leverages CHAT GPT in Greek for educational purposes, transforming school education through innovation. ATHENA Research Center's pioneering work in developing fairer Artificial Intelligence algorithms (Autofair) was also showcased, alongside its study, design, and experimental evaluation of "green" innovative methods in cloud computing (ARCADIA).

Among ATHENA's other popular projects are those offering scientific solutions to combat climate change, such as BRIGAID Connect and SDSN Global Climate Hub. Additionally, two accelerators, MENA Maritime Accelerator and Black Sea Accelerator, focus on decarbonizing the shipping sector and upgrading sustainable businesses in the Black Sea region, respectively.

Kostas Skrekas, the Minister of Development, and Maximos Senetakis, the Deputy Minister of Development, paid a visit to the ATHENA stand on Saturday, September 16th. They were briefed on ATHENA's approach to merging research and industry, exemplified by innovative products like FRESQO, as well as the creation of synergies and spin-offs, including AVISENSE.AI and Symbiolabs.

Professor Yiannis Emiris, the President and General Director of ATHENA Research Center, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "ATHENA Research Center always participates in TIF events as it provides us with the opportunity to share our activities with the public. We are thrilled to see that this year our research projects, innovation initiatives, and spin-offs have garnered the interest of visitors. This serves as a platform for discussions and the formation of new collaborations across various scientific domains, from the applications of Artificial Intelligence to education, autonomous navigation, and the identification of natural products, all the way to museum tours catering to individuals with special needs and virtual factory tours."
