The Social Sciences and Humanities Open Cloud (SSHOC) is one of five cluster projects within the larger European Open Science Cloud initiative. SSHOC unites 20 partner organisations and a further 27 associates realising the vision articulated by the European Commission in 2016: To offer researchers in the social sciences and humanities seamless access to a full and unified panorama of flexible, scalable, relevant data and the services, tools and training required to make optimal use of that data. The project has a 40-month lifespan (from January 2019 to April 2022) and aims to effect the transition from the current data landscape with its disciplinary silos and separate facilities to an integrated, cloud-based network of leveraged and interconnected data infrastructures. These data infrastructures will be supported by the tools and training which allow scholars and researchers to access, process, analyse, enrich and compare data across the boundaries of individual repositories or institutions.
