"Athena" Research Center and National Bank of Greece sign New MoU for fostering new entrepreneurship and the extroversion of Greek start-ups

The "Athena” Research Center and the National Bank of Greece have announced a new cooperation agreement to foster new entrepreneurship and the innovation and extroversion of Greek start-ups

Prof. Yannis Ioannidis, Director of "Athena" Research Center, which is the Institution that leads EIT Climate-KIC Hub Greece (Prof. Phoebe Koundouri is the Director of the Hub) and Konstantinos Kanavos, Head of Business Banking, National Bank of Greece and Dr. Spyros Arsenis, NBG Business Seeds Coordinator, signed an MoU seeking the planning, development, and scheduling of synergies between the Organization and the Bank, within the context of actions aimed at fostering new entrepreneurship and the innovation and extroversion of Greek start-ups. 
 
The "Athena” Research Center and the National Bank of Greece share a common objective of contributing towards the development of a resilience ecosystem of innovation. This MoU includes a continued strengthening of future cooperation with new synergies, mutual participation in mentoring activities and events and finance opportunities in NBG Business Seeds Program. 
 
“Athena” RC conducts outstanding research in Informatics and Computational Sciences with substantial social impact, addressing both global challenges and local needs. It explores a broad spectrum of research areas within the ICT field, as well as topics raised by other scientific fields, industry needs, or societal challenges. 
 
The National Bank of Greece was established in 1841 and was the first bank to be set up in the Modern Greek State. NBG has developed NBG Business Seeds, an integrated program designed to foster innovative and export-oriented entrepreneurship, which includes actions aimed at showcasing innovative ideas and projects, training and mentoring young entrepreneurs, and providing infrastructures, networking and financing. The "Innovation & Technology" competition is a component of this program that aims at rewarding cutting-edge ideas that harness new technologies and fostering innovation in Greece. 
 
This agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), formalises the mutual interaction and strengthens the relationship between the two organizations focusing on designing actions and synergies which will frame an active support through the Greek start-up research and innovation ecosystem.
